Healing for addiction
We screen all of our patients with drug or alcohol dependencies for other substances as well. We commonly treat patients with multiple dependencies.
The occurrence of two or more addictions in the same person (at the same time or one after the other) is called poly-substance addiction. CleanSlate clinicians will perform a thorough clinical history, physical examination and determine the safest and most appropriate next steps for your treatment.
Buprenorphine (Suboxone) comes in film and tablet forms. It takes the place of the opioids you are addicted to and eliminates your craving for the opioid you’re abusing. It also prevents the painful symptoms of withdrawal, and allows you to feel and function as you would normally.
A 6 month Implantable Device that contains Buprenorphine. This device releases buprenorphine into the body at a constant rate for a period of 6 months. Probuphine implantation is a treatment option for patients who have been stabilized in their treatment at CleanSlate for more than 6 months and are receiving 8mg of Suboxone or Subutex per day, or less. Every candidate for Probuphine will have a consultation with a CleanSlate physician and the risks and benefits of this treatment option will be reviewed.
Patients receiving Probuphine will continue to be seen on a regular basis at CleanSlate to ensure participation in our program and to track progress. At the end of 6 months the implants will be removed and a clinical decision will be made to either replace the implant with a new one, or to return to sublingual medication such as Suboxone. Probuphine is available at identified hub centers in the CleanSlate network.
Sometimes patients can experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop taking buprenorphine. Vivitrol is a non-addictive alternative that allows you to wean yourself from buprenorphine with minimal discomfort.
Vivitrol treatment at CleanSlate is often utilized with patients coming out of a detox* environment and you’re worried about relapse.
*Please note that CleanSlate does not provide detox treatment. We are happy to refer you to any of our partner detox centers if you’re looking for a detox program.
While in the CleanSlate program, patients engage with us in a variety of evidence-based psychological and social treatments, including counseling time with providers. Some patients may need additional services from a mental health provider or intensive counseling programs, or sometimes even inpatient care. The CleanSlate staff can help those patients find an appropriate counselor or counseling program in the community.
