Solving a nationwide epidemic
At CleanSlate, we specialize in the treatment of opioid addiction. When we talk about opioids (or ‘opiates’), we’re talking about heroin and prescription drugs like Percocet, Vicodin, and OxyContin.
At CleanSlate, we treat opioid addiction using two innovative and proven medications: buprenorphine (Suboxone) and Vivitrol.
Buprenorphine (Suboxone) is a medication that comes in film and tablet form. By taking the place of the opioids you use, buprenorphine prevents cravings and makes withdrawal from opioids feel less intense.
Patients on buprenorphine report feeling normal, functional and having a clear mind all day long, which allows them to make positive choices the way that they did prior to their addiction. When buprenorphine is combined with counseling and other forms of support, it can be highly effective in helping patients recover from addiction.
A 6 month Implantable Device that contains Buprenorphine. This device releases buprenorphine into the body at a constant rate for a period of 6 months. Probuphine implantation is a treatment option for patients who have been stabilized in their treatment at CleanSlate for more than 6 months and are receiving 8mg of Suboxone or Subutex per day, or less. Every candidate for Probuphine will have a consultation with a CleanSlate physician and the risks and benefits of this treatment option will be reviewed.
Patients receiving Probuphine will continue to be seen on a regular basis at CleanSlate to ensure participation in our program and to track progress. At the end of 6 months the implants will be removed and a clinical decision will be made to either replace the implant with a new one, or to return to sublingual medication such as Suboxone. Probuphine is available at identified hub centers in the CleanSlate network.
Vivitrol (depo-naltrexone) is a once-a month injectable medication that is useful for the treatment of opioid addiction and alcohol addiction. Vivitrol has been clinically proven to reduce the probability of relapse. For those suffering from an opioid addiction, Vivitrol may be initiated only after opioid detoxification. Vivitrol may also be utilized in patients who have completely tapered off of Buprenorphine (Suboxone) or methadone to prevent relapse.
This medication reduces craving for opioids and/or alcohol by binding to receptors in the brain that are responsible for drug craving.
Many patients with opioid addiction struggle with returning to the use of opioids and relapse. The CleanSlate clinical team provides care that is informed by the best medical-evidence.
Our team will guide you and discuss the option and timing of Vivitrol as part of your treatment.
While in the CleanSlate drug treatment program, patients engage with us in a variety of evidence-based psychological and social treatments, including counseling time with providers. Some patients may need additional services from a mental health provider or intensive counseling programs, or sometimes even inpatient care. The CleanSlate staff can help those patients find an appropriate counselor or counseling program in the community.
